hi everyone and welcome to my blogspot.
this is my first post here and i want it to be lovely.
but right now i'm floating in some really strange time warp. see, normally i would be working or thinking about heading to work. but, the client i care for is sick and in the hospital. i also had yesterday "off" for this reason. i visited yesterday, but it just wasn't time-wise today. instead, i made alot of phone calls.
the call to my sister-in-law lasted for an hour-and-a-half. my nearly 2 year-old neice said "hi" to me in her whispery-soft baby voice. it was precious! shan and i haven't talked for months. we ended up having a conversation about seemingly unfair deaths, and the frustratingness of the typical idea that God allows it for a purpose-- not that we doubt God has a purpose for these tragedies, but ... well, so often they happen to people who don't quantatively "deserve" it. i know, we all deserve death because of sin, our sin. but, doesn't it seem just an inscrutable punishment when, even people who are serving God faithfully, are suddenly ripped from their earth-family...? unexpected twists and turns happen when we least expect them and it makes it seem as though God is playing some cruel joke- maybe we should just be more expectant... i know and believe that there is deeper meaning to all this tradgedy that is the fragile fabric of life. don't worry (an ironic comment, considering the speaker) these don't feel like depressed thoughts, just baffled wonder at this twisted-angle perspective that is swirling in my mind... put there by God? "all things work together for good..."
After i got off the phone with shan, i wandered back to the craft room and ended up rummaging, for an hour, through old pictures from high school and other days, trying, in vain, to solve mysteries of who we were and who we are, meanwhile organizing all those 4x6" papers into the most logical categories. later i will dive into them again and, overwhelmed by the unconquerable quantity of time and memories and numbers, throw up my hands in despair of ever getting them layed out in neat little books to share with our heirs...!
i finally realized it was nearly 1:30 and i hadn't eaten or showered or accomplished any of the 3 goals i set for the day. so i ate a bowl of cheerios. as i type i am accomplishing one of the goals and now, i must bring this to a close and set about accomplishing a second goal and getting a shower.
looking forward to hearing from you. may your day run thick, like molasses, with thought. *grin*
