it's been awhile, so i thought i'd update for whoever reads this (bless you...).
its summer, just barely. i am so thankful to feel a promise of cooler weather in the air. i sleep with a blanket at night now and try to stay warm, instead of waking up sticky with sweat. david and i can cuddle for more than 2 seconds...
melanie, our friend and housemate, is becoming more and more belly-full with baby. she and i have been attending some boring birthing classes. next week is our last one of a grand total of 3. there's been no practice of position changes and only brief 5 min blips at the end of class of talking on how to breathe.
our kitten, gandalf, is a terror. he likes to play in his water dish and is constantly making a mess. i can't hardly wait till he gets fixed. 23 days to go...
mama and papa were "home", staying with my dad. we had a "merry christmas in august". i baked a ham david received from the bank last christmas, and we had the traditional spread of snacks. mama and i canned 30 jars of salsa, made from fresh-picked produce from dad's garden.
we spent the day at turtle creek flea market their last day here. david's building a bookshelf to accomodate all the books we've amassed during their visit. they're off to costa rica now, for language school. they covet your prayers.
otherwise, most of our time has been spent working, 40 hrs a week. but even there, we have much to be thankful for, having jobs we enjoy.
yesterday afternoon, we headed to THE fair for the day. we strolled through most every midway and visited rabbits, pigs and horses. ate turkey leg and italian sausage, lemonade, cotton candy, elephant ear, etc. and spent the evening watching the tractor pull, trying to ignore headaches and tummy-aches. at home we crashed with the wholehearted agreement that we'd had our fill of THE fair. we also are dreading the pain our wallets will feel if we ever take kids to the fair. HOW do you do it? i'm not sure we will. we think, perhaps, we'll tell them lies like : giant child-eating tigers roam free on the midway! think it'll work? *L*
Anticipating autumn...

on taking kids to the fair...that's what grandparents are for!!!
I know what you mean. THE FAIR is good for about one day and then I am done. We did watch the motorcycle races the other evening, had bbq chicken, Fiske fries and of course old fashioned homemade peanutbutter icecream (which I ate out of Jason's cone.) I had red raspberry with real raspberries.
Lyndie, thank you for the beautiful gift. You are so creative! We will have to have you guys down in a few months. I hope to have your creative display right near the front door! So unique and special!
