will i need the white flag?

"out of the same mouth come blessings and curses..." this is never more desperately true for me than when i am referring to the cats. one moment i'm wishing that WOLBI would just be finished with her ninth life and that gandalf would stay out in the barn. then next, i can't help smiling when they look peaceful and picturesque. i have been particularly divided about them recently, mostly for one minute and yet enormously annoying reason: fleas. to date, we have bombed the house twice, sprayed down the house with pesticide (approx. 32oz worth), done ridiculous amounts of laundry and cleaning, given the cats 3 baths in within a 15day period, and sprinkled the house with Borax (it currently looks like we had a flour fight and forgot to clean up). Borax is a last resort- if the fleas aren't gone in a week i think i'll be flying the white flag of defeat. i'm not sure the cats (or we) will survive another bath in the near future, and we don't have the time or the energy to do another 15-20 loads of laundry and tear apart the house. i'm banking on the borax (20 mule team)- it is said the fleas consume it and then EXPLODE! this thought makes me giggle evilly and sneer with glee. how can he look so relaxed? maybe he's just wiped out from all the itching and flea baths...
in good news- i sent out our completed dossier (the packet of papers that tells the guatemalan gov't who we are) to the agency yesterday afternoon. hopefully it will be in the hands of the aforementioned gov't this week sometime... pray, pray, pray that it moves as quickly as divinely possible. we are very eager to bring our little girl home.
in the meantime, we have LOTS to keep us busy. fleas, yes. barn raising. book sorting. wallpaper removal and painting. sewing. room remodeling. glass replacing. reappointing rooms. cleaning. reading. scrapbooking. keeping up with friends and family. working, working, working (adoption is expensive! holidays are too...!).

aawww...don't turn in the white flag yet...you have to admit the numbers have dwindled, right?
I'm not a cat lover either, but your cats definitely have character. By the way, a spool of your variegated thread is in the sewing machine I was using. Also, there is a bobbin filled in the cardboard accessory box in the case.
Miss you guys...
