It looks like winter has finally won a round. The yard outside my window is blanketed in white, the porch looks like its been liberally dusted with powdered sugar and the trees are frosted and dreamy-looking. However, a winter storm warning was unfounded, as the accumulation cannot be more than an inch, if that.
It was a cozy afternoon and evening last night, once we were all settled in. Although I had fears, I think the LOTR marathon can be counted a success. A few of us dressed for the occasion in “period” wear and weilded various weaponry. Several tried their hand at LOTR Risk. There was a wacky game of chicken ping-pong. Hayley made a signature chocolate cake, full of pure decadence. Lots of yummy snacks and enough people to have a good time, though a couple more dear ones would’ve been a happy addition (miss you...). The wind blew and the snow flew and we huddled down deeper in our blankets and pillows on beds made of chairs.
Earlier in the afternoon, we once again toured the house on 4th St. that we’ve been “crushing” on and, with the advice of trusted counsel, have made the decision to make an offer. I feel much trepidation and anxiety, but hope and happiness as well. I spent many hours last evening, even after arriving home at 3:30 am, lying in bed, daydreaming about what it might be like- where to put furniture and kids, how to add the right touches to make it home, what makes it good and what could be done to make it better. How long will we be there? Where will we go when we must leave? It all seems like its on my doorstep and yet so far away and creates such a mix of feelings that I’m afraid I might never be … what?.... again. I sincerely hope I am made a tree with my roots planted firmly by the waters.

So cool about the house! We'll be waiting for an update on Tuesday.
I'm just surprised that after watching LOTR and then falling asleep thinking about houses, you didn't dream you were buying a home with a 4-foot ceiling! haha
i would Love a hobbit house, if only i were small enough to fit in it... but that would be quite a -shrink. :p remember how gandalf hits his head on the chandelier? tehe.
Can't wait to hear more about the house! Buying your own home is fun and scary, and exciting, and binding, and liberating all at the same time. No more small blue flower wallpaper, unless your tastes run toward small blue flower wallpaper!
I, just as so many others, am glad to hear about the house. In actuality I don’t know that much about it all except that things seem to be going well. One way or another the best part of your post was of Hayley’s cake. To think something so explosive would come from such a gentle and demure girl. If I had a blog there would be a whole page on that cake. I heart Hayley’s cake (that’s right Mel, your little phrase has grown on me). Anyway Lyndie, I’d like to meet you for coffee sometime this week, or next, if you have any free time. Give me a ring or we could figure something out whenever we meet next. If you'd like to that is.
