happy independence day

it's been an eventful holiday weekend. sunday, our friend, melanie, who is expecting a baby in october, moved in. we are happy to have her, and glad that God has given us the privilege of her friendship. sunday afternoon, she and i went swimming in the threewitts' pond. it was refreshing and invigorating, but we were tired and famished afterwards, on the way home. we stopped at wendy's, and indulged our "defcon2" appetites. that night, after our Bible study, all the remixer's trooped off to the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks. we escaped just before the downpour, and still managed to have appreciated the grand finale.
today, we slept in. it is unpleasant to move, in this humidity. after a pancake breakfast, we each worked on a hobby project: d and mel- model cars; me- scrapbook of our 2nd year of marriage. later, after a trip to the cool, air-conditioned walmart, we prepared for the evening's cookout, with members of our LIFE group able to attend. we ate in the backyard, and pretended not to feel the sprinkling rain. the wright kids experienced their first sparklers, and were duly impressed and, of course, classically adorable. since everyone's gone home, i've been gobbling up my latest read- "Girl Meets God" by Lauren Winner. i highly recommend this book, to anyone who cares. i don't often read books twice, and tho i haven't yet finished it, i'm already feeling like i need to read it again. btw- i hereby acknowlege that my punctuation skills are foul. i'm sorry to those who know better. i think it's related to my poor math skills.
