looks like i left everyone speechless with my attempt at frankness. sorry if it was appalling. don't worry, "deep thoughts" won't be spewing forth again anytime soon. :)

perhaps it isn't reassuring, but i've just learned a new sport: clay pigeon shooting. "annie, get your gun" has a whole new meaning to me. yesterday, down on the farm, i had the experience of shooting a 20 gauge and a 12 gauge shot gun. exhilarating! on my tenth and last effort, i actually hit one of those flying disks, and was elated, to say the least. earlier, in the spring, i shot a rifle, a few times, in a very controlled situation- they were strapped to stands and they had telescopes to find the target. shooting a shotgun, well, it's more like the real thing. i'll admit, it made me rather nervous at first. firearms are not a toy to take lightly, or a toy at all, for that matter. but it did make me familiar with them and i felt a little like annie oakley, which is only right,
considering my hometown hosts an annual celebration of "little miss sure shot".

we had a lively country afternoon- shooting guns, fishing, horseriding, eating "superdogs" (the biggest hotdogs i've ever encountered), meeting new friends and sitting around the campfire. "we're from the country, and we like it that way...!"

Oh Lyndie I didn't respond to your last post, because sometimes its hard for me to answer when someone is being very open. You didn't 'scare' me, I just didn't have the right words to respond.
Now where were you at that you got to shoot clay pigeons? Sounds interesting...did david get to also?

I just read your last several posts and appreciated your honesty. Being raised a PK, I often rebelled inwardly (and sometimes outwardly!) at having to "keep up appearances." This tendancy also runs in my family's DNA, and is especially hard to conquer when you finally let down your guard and it comes back to bite you in the butt. :-p

I personally think that David is very fortunate, as are your future children, and furthermore, I am jealous that you can burp on command.

How can my dear son complain about your ability to burp when he and Shan used to have burping contests? (after she was married!)
Or has he also forgotten the accuracy contests they had spitting from the balcony of her apartment? They would pick a target on the ground and see who could spit the closest to it....

WOW! Lyn you look like a natural on top of that horse :o) GRIN Love ya! Were you there when Justin W (from Faith) jumped on one of our horses from the rear end? I was thinking there was several of us there including you and dave but I could be wrong.

Love your honesty Lyn, and the pics...and if a burping contest is in the future, you'll have to beat Gus' brother Travis...he's the best I've ever heard! Speakin' of Gus, does anybody hear from that Peach anymore?? She's elusive, that's for shore! Luv you!

you are all kind.
mama- david has confessed to spitting, but has never admitted to BURPING CONTESTS!
charity- alas, i don't actually burp "on command" but when it comes, well, it's commanding. kari can burp the alphabet (or she used to be able to).
regi- i felt very UNnatural. i was quite sore the next day.
tsunami sister- i cower at the talent of your son. of gus...she emailed me recently saying that she might be visiting in the fall, but wouldn't be home for regi's wedding. that was august~ from augusta. miss her.

Well maybe not *contests* but they sure applauded one another on a particularly well-done burp!
