i recently painted my fingernails and then my toenails BLACK. i am infatuated with this look. i RARELY paint my phalanges (?) at all, and even more rarely such a color, but, whatever! i'm not sure exactly what inspired this deviation, but it coordinated marvelously with my badger mask this evening at REMIX... we celebrated Purim, a Jewish holiday that celebrates the victory of the Jews over the evil Haman, from the story of Esther. As is "Tradition!" *insert "fiddler on the roof" song* we wore costumes, ate alot of food (much of it Kosher, yet tasty), and read the ENTIRE book of Esther- making racous noise (banging pots, blowing airhorns, stomping, booing, etc...) every time the name of Haman was read. This is in keeping with our study of the O.T., specifically our study of the book of Esther earlier, in the fall. This month we'll begin studying the book of Ruth. check out Through a Glass Dimly, where david will periodically post articles on what we've been studying. Also, please note that we DID NOT watch "A Night With the King" because it is a nauseating movie, and is not half as good as the book. The end of the movie was the Worst- *mocking tone* "I see the Stars!" UGH! a huge waste of time and money (we were seduced into seeing it at the theater, and left very sorry).
matzo balls, latke cakes, and hummus~ dumplings, potato-vege pancakes, and mashed chikpeas with olive oil and seasonings- used as dip for bread, in this case, bagels.
i'm praising God for: a new vaccuum hose, after 2 wks w/o. i'm praying for strength: after vacuuming the house 2 days in a row.
praising God for: my friend elizabeth, who gives me hand-me-downs from her mother in NY, such as SimpleScrapbooks magazines or a new GAP dress. praying that: i'll get to go visit her wherever she moves.
praising God for sweet home and helpful husband. praying that i get to spend more quality time with both in the future.

Black, Lyn?
i wholeheartedly agree with you about the lame movie version of the book of Esther. it could not end fast enough for me - and since i watched it on dvd, i did end it early! how they can turn such a compelling story into such a measly mess is beyond me.
i like your party theme though!!
i'm so jealous of all the jewishness...
although i do wonder how i can be a jew and not want to eat any of my own ethnic food...
cheetos are kosher, right?
We were talking about going to see that movie; i guess it's a good thing we never did!
That does sound like a cool party - where did you learn how to make all the food? I'm actually really excited about doing communion next month with some of the Passover elements.
*L* yes, BLACK, regi! ;) but i took it off today and painted my thumbs with green glitter and am claiming to have a "green thumb". *grin*
~d: "the book is ALWAYS better than the movie"
Lauren: dunno 'bout cheetos... maybe david would know. :)
charity- well, i kinda cheated: it was all from boxed mixes i found in the Kosher section at Kroger *blush*. looking forward to Passover elements- except for "bitter herbs" *L*
