a week of...

sunday, we went on a long walk around town, gathering a bouquet of leaves as we went. in the evening i made all sorts of leaf art: inked imprints, paint stamps, i even shellacked some of them (very Martha Stewart!). ;P
later this week i finally got around to tearing down the wallpaper border in the kitchen and pantry. it was really a very easy job and it's so gratifying to see the difference.

last night gandalf revealed that the kitten in him is still alive and well. playing with this wad of yarn, by himself, he managed to get his back legs hogtied. when david discovered him, several minutes of sneering and guffawing ensued. he tried to run off when he was tired of being mocked without help- but the wad was wrapped around the leg of one of the chairs! more laughter- but pity was permitted, and david freed him- only after he let me take a few pics. freed, he ran off, but came back a minute later to glare resentfully at the offending string (and us, probably!) good times, good times...

david is getting spoiled by my temporary lack of work. he's beginning to expect a home-cooked meal every nite! :) i really don't mind- i've been enjoying cooking. but last night, i hadn't really had any ideas of what i wanted to do, and i didn't really have any "starter kits" that we were interested in. so, i made my own version of goulash (which i've despised since childhood) which actually turned out quite tasty: onion, smoked sausage, italian diced tomatoes, alot of seasoning, and whole wheat macaroni. i think the deeper reason that david likes meals at night is that it usually provides great leftovers for lunch the next day. that boy will gain weight yet!

that's the drivel of another "free" week...

next week is BOOKED- truly! ( pray david doesn't starve!)

LOL He won't starve, you just might hear some complaining because it sounds like he might have gotten a little spoiled.

My son gain weight???? that will be the day!
I loved your leafy ideas! I actually gathered leaves when we were home two years ago. I carried modge podge in the car along with a foam brush and would coat the leaves, lay them in the back window and in the evenig placed them in a shoe box. I opened that box up the day before we flew to Tampa and the leaves are still fine. I really had expected a moldy mess with all the humidity in our apartment. So those leaves of yours should last a while!
Alas, the border is down! No more pink/blue flowers in your red/white/black and chrome kitchen. I bet it does make a difference! Are you going to leave it plain?
