Padre de Yosi

crosses her legs so lady-like...

David's first Father's Day:

Yosi wore her little pink outfit, tagged "daddy's girl". Dada carried her around church and politely received the expected congratulations, and was relieved when attention was easily drawn from him to Yosi. She wore a big pink bow above her jaunty side ponytail (a special request from Daddy).

After Yosi's nap, Daddy opened his special gifts: a shirt with the title of this blog, emblazoned on it (homemade), book labels for his library (160 handwritten), trolli sour gummy worms, tropical trail mix, and a bottle of inexpensive(read: cheap) red wine that turned out to be surprisingly savory, considering it's $3.97 price tag!
Then he was awarded some well-deserved alone time. I took Yosi to see Gpa Glen for his first Grand-Father's Day. We picked strawberries, while Yosi sat on a blanket and played contentedly thru most of the first row. After a sippy and the placement of a canopy over her head, she played with Gpa awhile, while I finished the first row and caught a toad (naturally, getting peed on in the process). Yosi was fascinated to touch him "gently"- her first attempt gave Mr.Toad a good poke in the eye, but he was unscathed, tho emotionally traumatized (he squeaked).

a not-so-"hoppy" amphibian
too tired to care about strawberries!

At home, after another nap, Daddy and Yosi played together some more, then he rocked her to sleep (well, almost- she had to cry it out a bit in her crib, but this is the norm).
In other news: she has re-discovered a pacie that had been carelessly tossed in the toy box, previously regarded as useless except for the rattling sound of the handle. The pacie has since become a dear friend and ally. It's cuteness in her mouth is something to be admired, not just for it's visual, but also auditory pleasantness. It somehow eradicates spells of tiresome whining, that were setting in around the same time as it's discovery. Indications for seemingly causeless whining and yowling have yet to be pinpointed, but the speculations are hovering around erupting dentition or ear infection(s) or an increased need for attention... Nonetheless, perfect timing for a day of driving for 8 hrs to attend a 4 hr picnic hosted by our adoption agency!

The coming weekend's picnic will also coincide with Yoselin's 10 month "birthday". She is cuter and ornerier than ever, and we love her 10x more than we did last month. She is, by today's measurements, now 17lb, 13oz and 27.5" long, tottering her way into the 27th percentile on the growth chart. She is most happy when "walking" with our assistance, or standing and holding on to what's available. No cruising or crawling yet, but there's no rush as child-proofing is a daunting task that we are content to postpone for the moment. She continues to babble and sometimes it sounds like words, though this is purely incidental. BUT twice today I thought she said "kitty" which sounded more like "diddy" and it correlated with her joy at catching a glimpse of the cat. Another happy development is a pseudo-hug, though of yet, only I have experienced. This involves patting my collarbone happily then pulling herself to me and squeezing my shoulders tightly. It may also include the psuedo-kiss, an open mouth, bite your cheek/nose/chin kind of thing. These displays of affection are pretty random, and always catch me by surprise and earn her yet another round of squezzing and kisses from me that she usually tries to wiggle away from, unless sheer exhaustion permits her to lay her head on my shoulder for a couple seconds.

Padre de Yosi is working late tonite, thankfully a rare occasion. I have been so impressed in his perserverance and patience with this job, though he dreams of more fulfilling possiblities in the future. In the meantime, he is faithful and disciplined and the best man I know. I hope to never have to face life without him. Praise God for His perfect omniscience in making David my husband and Yosi's outstanding father.
