- Sleep schedule: she's been sleeping thru the night since late August. What a treat that has been! Now- she's been working on cutting back on naps~ NOT such a treat. First it was 1 long (2h) AM nap with a short (1hr) PM nap. Then it was 1 hr naps AM and PM. Then 1hr naps AM or PM and more-often-than-not cranky baby in the evening. yeah, still don't have this nap thing figured out...
BUT in the meantime, she's been learning alot of new things:
-How to tear out her hair clips and bows.
-Lots more intentional communication, answering questions w/head nods and shakes, saying "dada" and "mom-mee" more consistently, "meowing" whenever she sees cats OR dogs. Still lots of "what's that?" and yesterday she said "who's that?" pointing @ a picture.
-New play places: under the computer desk is a little cupboard. She is very fond of opening the door and crawling in there and shuffling thru books I've left in there for her. This is how I get a few minutes catching up on email or uploading/editing pics on my days off.
-Last, but not least: Thursday, October 23rd, she officially took her first steps! (We didn't count the couple she could take between stationary objects, b/c she didn't realize she was doing it.) David saw it first, as he was watching her while I got dinner ready. He called me to come and see, but she'd already plopped down. The next few minutes were spent encouraging her to do it again. She did, and then she didn't want to stop. She toddled around in her fluffy purple dragon costume on Broadway for Beggar's Night. She tottered to see everyone who called to her, a proud little grin on her face. BUT yesterday, instead of coming to me when I called, she glanced back, smirked, and waddled as fast as she could, in the opposite direction.
This is a really fun time. And, as usual, frustrating too. But, mostly, fun.
Yesterday we built a fire ring in the backyard. and enjoyed a campfire with friends for a couple of hours, before the blustery wind and spitting rain drove us in. The wind blew down more dried vines from our tree though, so more well-fed flames are in our future.
yeah, so, i started this post, um, like, 5 days ago or something. the fire ring was built LAST weekend... yosi's not going to last long with me on the computer and her not touching it, so this MUST be posted.
Don't forget to "fall back" your clock tomorrow! TTFN.
PS. Must-See new pics on Winkflash. Lots of cute shots of a little purple dragon.

I always thought it got easier with my kids when they turned 3.
But, Shiloh and Daniel are breaking that tradition!
